First trains leave London King?s Cross for Peterborough - but line from London to Cambridge to be ?shut all day?

THE first trains have run between London and Peterborough after overhead wire problems caused mayhem for commuters this morning.

National Rail has announced that the line between Welwyn Garden City and Biggleswade has reopened enabling trains to travel between London King?s Cross and St Neots, Huntingdon and Peterborough.

The line between Welwyn Garden City and Letchworth Garden City is expected to remain shut all day, affecting London to Cambridge services. Passengers on these trains are advised to use Greater Anglia services from Londin Liverpool Street to Cambridge.

The first trains through were the 11.16am train from Peterborough to London King?s Cross and the 11.23am train in the other direction.

East Coast, Grand Central and First Hull Trains are still terminating and departing from Peterborough at the moment.
